Site Recovery Manager is a key product in VMware’s innovative portfolio of management and automation products for the virtualised data centre. These products leverage the power of virtual infrastructure to automate manual processes, allowing the IT department to increase efficiency, become more responsive to business requirements, minimise risk and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
Site Recovery Manager delivers pioneering disaster recovery management and automation for the data centre. It integrates closely with VMware Infrastructure, VMware VirtualCenter, and partners’ replication software to make recovery rapid, reliable, affordable, and manageable by providing centralised management of recovery plans, automating the recovery process, and enabling dramatically better testing of recovery plans.
Long before a site failure occurs, organisations can use Site Recovery Manager to configure and test the recovery process. Site Recovery Manager guides users through the process of setting up and configuring recovery plans for their environment. At the time of failover or testing Site Recovery Manager automates execution of the recovery plan, eliminating many of the slow and unreliable manual processes common in traditional disaster recovery.
Site Recovery Manager integrates seamlessly with VMware Infrastructure and VMware VirtualCenter, making recovery plans significantly easier to manage and update. Site Recovery Manager is sold both a la carte and bundled with other VMware software. It is not a part of the VMware Infrastructure Foundation, Standard, or Enterprise.
