On Sunday October 5, the new Daylight Saving period will begin – with new changes that see New South Wales, Victoria, Australia Capital Territory, Tasmania and South Australia align their DST start and end dates. For most states, this means DST will begin 21 days earlier than previous years.
The change impacts numerous IT systems, most notably Windows clients and servers as well as Messaging / Calendaring systems.
If not addressed, you may experience:
| |
- |
Incorrect calendar entries within Outlook or other email client
|
| |
- |
Incorrect calendar entries on Blackberry, Windows Mobile or other synchronised devices |
| |
- |
...resulting in missed appointments, confusion around schedules, and double-booked meeting rooms |
| |
- |
Repeating appointments appearing incorrectly after DST finishes |
| |
- |
Incorrect times used in your business applications |
| |
- |
Incorrect times shown on workstations |
| |
- |
Scheduled tasks changing, including backups |
| |
- |
Further issues at end of DST |
